If anyone would have asked me three years ago how it felt to have someone, other than my close friends and family, read the book I was writing I would have laughed and said "That's not going to happen". I have to say, putting yourself out there for others to read and critique is a scary thing. You have to have thick skin because not everyone is going to love your work and that's okay. But so far, many of the comments and reviews I am getting from people are how much they enjoyed the book. So much so that they couldn't put the book down and read it in one day. It's crazy to me that I created something that can have that effect someone. I know the best books I have read are the books I can't put down. The ones where I cry and laugh with the characters. The ones that at the end of the book I am so crushed that it is over I just sit and think about those characters who've become a part of me somehow. Its a humbling feeling all the kind words I am receiving and they're not just about my book. People, some whom I don't even know but have learned about me from a friend or family member, are telling me how they are so proud of the things I have accomplished. Being a single mom with two kids, starting and running my own business, and now having a book out there, they don't know how I do it. I only have one person that I can thank for keep my head above the water. God. He's been by my side for over 21+ years now. He's the one constant in my life. Whenever I need to talk, or just want to talk, He is there. I love how every night my boys bring him up in some way as they try to figure Him out. I'm sure Andrew gave Him a pretty big laugh when after church one Sunday I ask him what did he learn about. His answer "Oh just about some dude that could walk on water." So I just want to say thank you to everyone that has left me a message or called me to give such kind words. Without Him, none of this would be possible.
